NextGen Leadership Team

By submitting the form that follows you agree to the description, expectations, and accountability below.

Description
The NextGen Leadership Team exists to raise-up, equip, and empower young leaders of Cross Church who are in 8th to 12th grade by:
  1. challenging them to think beyond their current level of leadership.
  2. giving them opportunities to lead through serving.
  3. giving them opportunities to lead various teams within the NextGen ministry.
  4. providing input for the planning of the NextGen ministry.
  5. engaging in relational discipleship.

Expectations
  • 100% attendance in Cross Church and NextGen services unless you are out of town, sick or providentially hindered. If you’re unable to make one, you must let your team lead and/or Pastor Joey know ahead of time.
  • Participation in all NextGen events including going to summer camp, and the Winter Leadership Retreat.
  • Meet on the 2nd and 4th Sundays with a discipleship group on Sundays from 3:30p to 4p.
  • Stay active in the NextGen Leadership Team group chat in GroupMe by responding within 24 hours.
  • Complete both weeks of Cross Church’s Next Steps course.
  • Commit to being a member of Cross Church by signing the Membership Covenant.
  • Memorize the Cross Church Vision statement.
  • Cover other team members spiritually through daily prayer.
  • Always assume the best of team members' intentions.
  • Protect the unity of the church and ministry by not participating in and stopping gossip.
  • Work out differences and grievances with other believers as biblically prescribed in a timely manner (Proverbs 19:11, Matthew 5:23-25, 7:1-5, 18:15-17). If the other person is unwilling to work out the difference, get with Pastor Joey to address the situation.
  • Attending and participating in discussions at Leadership Team meetings on the 3rd Sunday every month unless notified by Pastor Joey.
  • Connected within a NextGen Wednesday night group.
  • Having a consistent, daily quiet time (time in scripture + prayer).
  • Lead by example in speech, both in person and online refraining from vulgar language or reposting songs with such language (Ephesians 4:29, Colossians 3:8, 1 Timothy 4:12, Titus 2:7-8).
  • Lead by example in attire by covering appropriate areas of your body, and avoiding overly short shorts, crop tops, visible straps, or overly tight clothing (1 Timothy 2:9, Proverbs 11:22).
If you are uncertain about clothing items, contact your Wednesday group leader(s) or discussion group leader.
  • Lead by example in serving by serving joyfully and willingly, being on time, and working diligently (Colossians 3:17, 23-27).
  • Lead by example in worship. Worship ought to be fun and expressive, and we should model such worship, but also understand the weight of worshiping Jesus, our Savior and Lord (Proverbs 15:8, Proverbs 21:3, Matthew 5:7-9).
  • Lead by example in authenticity. We want to be the same person in church, at NextGen, at school, and wherever we may be (Joshua 24:14, Psalm 23:3-6, James 1:22-25).

Accountability
Serving on the NextGen Leadership team is a privilege. Issues requiring accountability will be addressed in-person by Pastor Joey and another pastor or a senior member of the NextGen Leadership Team. Each person will have opportunities to make corrections following the meeting.
The amount of time following the meeting to make corrections will be determined based upon the issue. If issues persist without correction beyond the given time-line, the team member will be removed from the team.
